Time tracking for people who bill by the hour

Track your time. Turn it into money.

Militime is built around how you actually charge — hourly, retainer, bank of hours or fixed price. Every hour you log knows what it's worth the moment you log it.

One entry, followed all the way through

Twenty minutes on a client project — tracked, priced, and understood. It's the same twenty minutes at every step.

One tap starts the timer. The client, the project and the billable flag come along with it, so nothing has to be reconstructed later.

The loop

Four things, one workspace

Most tools do one of these well and hand you a CSV for the rest. Here they're the same system, so there's nothing to reconcile.

  1. 01Track

Hit start. Militime captures the rest.

One tap begins a live timer that follows you across clients and projects. Set the category, mark it billable, edit on the fly — then get back to the work.

  2. 02Bill

The project already knows how it bills.

You decided that once, when you set it up. Retainer cycles show hours delivered against hours committed. Banks of hours draw down. Rates attach themselves to the right entries.

See the margin, not just the hours.

Revenue against cost of delivery, by client and by project. The work that earns and the work that quietly drains you, separated — while you can still act on it.

Project-specific billing

Every project bills differently. Militime already knows.

Most trackers give you one rate and call that billing. Here each project carries its own model — and the totals, the utilization and the reports follow on their own.

Hourly

Per-client and per-project rates, with date-ranged changes that apply themselves to the right entries.

Hourly

Rate changed Jun 1
$0billable
May — before the change6h × $125.00
June — after the change8h × $150.00

Date-ranged rates apply themselves to the right entries.

Retainer

Recurring cycles with live utilization: hours delivered against hours committed, and overflow that carries into the next cycle.

Bank of hours

Sell a block up front. Every tracked entry draws the balance down, so nobody is surprised at month end.

Bank of hours

Every tracked entry draws the balance down as it lands.

Fixed price

One agreed fee. Militime tracks the effective hourly rate as the work lands, so you feel the squeeze early enough to matter.

Fixed price

The fee is agreed. The effective rate is what tells you how it's going.

One engine

Four billing models, one timer. You never choose how to track. You choose how the project is sold — once — and the tracking follows from there.

Why Militime

Everyone else has the order backwards

General trackers start with a stopwatch and leave the billing to you. Militime starts from how the project is sold, so the money is computed as you work instead of reconstructed afterwards.

Traditional time trackers

Track first. Work out the billing afterwards.

  1. 01Start a stopwatch.
  2. 02Tag the entry and hope it's right.
  3. 03Export a timesheet at the end of the month.
  4. 04Rebuild the billing in a spreadsheet.
  5. 05Find out the margin once it's already spent.

Militime

Decide how it bills. Tracking follows.

  1. 01Set the project's billing model once.
  2. 02Start the timer — the rate is already attached.
  3. 03Watch utilization and billable value update live.
  4. 04Read margin by client and by project.
  5. 05Send a report the client actually understands.

InvoicingComing soon

Compares native, out-of-the-box capability. “Add-on” means available on the other tools through a paid upgrade or an integration. Invoicing is the row where they win today — Militime doesn't ship it yet, and we'd rather say so here than let you find out after signing up.

What you get

The parts that matter, in order

Not everything deserves equal billing. These are the reasons people buy, the reasons they stay, and the reasons they enjoy using it.

One-click tracking

Start from anywhere — the command palette, a keyboard shortcut, or the Mac menu bar. Set client, project and category inline, then get back to work.

Project-specific billing

Hourly, retainer, bank of hours or fixed price. Each project carries its own model, and every entry is priced the moment you log it.

Rates that follow the work

Per-client and per-project rates with date ranges. Raise your rate in June and May's entries keep the old one, without you touching a thing.

Then it tells you things you didn't know

Profitability by client and project

Revenue against cost of delivery, so the work that earns and the work that drains margin stop looking alike.

AI summaries

A short, plain-language read on where the time and the money went. Optional, metered per workspace, and off if you'd rather.

Earnings calendar

A month at a glance, heat-mapped by money earned or hours tracked, with running monthly totals.

And it stays out of your way

Command palette

Jump anywhere, and start or stop a timer, from one shortcut.

Keyboard shortcuts

Every common action has one. The mouse is optional.

Grid, journal & today

A fast editable grid, a day-by-day journal, and a daily overview.

Teams & roles

Invite your team, assign roles, and see the org chart.

Bilingual exports

Trust

What we can actually prove

Militime is early. Rather than invent numbers, here is who runs it, where your data lives, and what happens if you decide to leave.

Encrypted end to end

TLS 1.3 in transit and encrypted at rest on Supabase's hardened Postgres. Backups inherit the same protection.

Stripe handles every card

Subscription payments run through Stripe. Militime never sees or stores your card details.

Built and run from Montreal

Designed around Quebec's Law 25 and Canada's PIPEDA, with GDPR access, erasure and portability treated as product requirements.

Your data leaves when you do

Export every project, report and time entry as CSV or PDF on demand. Ask us to delete the account and we honour it end to end.

There are no customer quotes here yet, because we don't have permission to print any.

We'd rather leave the space empty than write a testimonial and attribute it to a job title. If you use Militime and would let us quote you by name, we'd genuinely like to hear from you.

A time tracker built for people who bill for their time. It pairs one-click tracking with project-specific billing — hourly, retainer, bank of hours and fixed price — so every hour is priced as you log it, and turns that into profitability reporting, bilingual exports and short AI summaries.
